Academic self-efficacy to carry out research at the University

Abstract

The purpose of this research was to demonstrate that academic self-efficacy and research form an essential binomial in the University. Berefore, it was based on the relationship established between University-society and University-research. In addition, some of the thoughts and experiences that influence students to investigate were presented. It was evident that having disposition, thinking that one can do an activity, possessing positive prior knowledge, among others, favor academic self-efficacy, while failures, immaturity, anxiety, and the absence of a counselor postpone it. It is understood, then, that in order to investigate in the University, academic self-efficacy is necessary, understood as the set of judgments that each individual has about their abilities to carry out the actions that will allow them to comply with the different institutional activities. Hence, making research a daily occurrence is beneficial for academic life in university entities.
